Crooked Still
Boston may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think bluegrass, but that doesn't mean that decent bluegrass can't come from Boston and Crooked Still provide more than enough evidence in that quarter.
A five piece, the band were described as 'the most important band to come out of Boston since the 60s." That may be pushing it a bit, but they are a band that have really honed their credentials.
They've stormed both of the major US Bluegrass festivals, Telluride and Newport, with their blend of contemporary and traditional sounds. They may not have the blood harmonies or even the years of being raised in the tradition, but that hasn't stopped them from producing a sound, both vocally and instrumentally that would stop a fleeing bank robber in his tracks
Moonshine comes from a crooked still, well maybe you can also add star light, even if you can't it impossible to deny the impressive spirit.
